Damn, that is fucked up. It's like because of a policy, common sense gets tossesd out the window.

I guess there is something to be said for buying your bike at a real bike shop. They wouldn't pull that BS on you... EVER. I completely understand going to Target to buy a kids bike... makes sense... but damn.

little update:

Found almost the exact same bike at Toys-R-Us, about the same price.....ask the kid working the bike area for one in a box unopened. He had one at the register before I even walked to the front of the store, rings me up and its $20 cheaper than the tagged price. Turns out they give you a phat discount for doing your own assembly.

Yay for retailers that operate with a little common sense.
