New Digital Signal Conversion b.s.

So,

We're all changing to digital and whatever and I have a built in tuner on my tv and do watch HD shows when available but:

1. Signal issues, sup w/ pixelation? no reliable signal up north?

2. I live in Carrollton and own a powered $60 Terk hd antenna and don't get Ch. 8 at all. Took it up w/ them and they said to stick an antenna on the roof of my apartment...WTF!

3. 16:9 signal sending a 4:3 image of a 16:9 screen (i.e. a big picture w/ borders showing a small box showing a picture of smaller widescreen box)... WTF!

4. All spanish channels come in crystal at 720p. (not a complaint, just pointing it out, love me some T&A)

5. No true 1080p signal... none! (miss the days when Ch. 13-2 was around... r.i.p.)

I hope all this gets rectified b4 DTV-Day.

1. When I used my cheap indoor antenna, I got all of the channels but I did experience some break up. I would have to adjust the antenna for certain channels but they would eventually come in clear. I am in Richardson.
2. Wow that's pretty jacked up you have a powered antenna and it's not working well. Maybe take it back and try a diff one?
3. That would have to be them sending the SD feed down the HD pipe, even though it's a widescreen program. Don't know what channel would do that or why... I have seen KXAS Ch. 5 accidently do it a few times on Law & Order but they would quickly correct.

Ha, I remember using a paper clip back in the day on a TV I installed on Cedar Hill, literally a 2 min. drive from the towers!

Don't what to tell ya about Richardson, the Terk is actually my best out of 3 attempts. The widescreen to 4:3 thing shouldn't even be an option. There isn't enough bandwidth, you're right, but back in 2003 or 2004, they ran 13-2 at full 1080p for a short while. I worked for Home Theater store around that time and that would be the channel we'd have on display for all the tv's in the store. I'm trying to find some documentation on it. We used to carry HD VCR's too.... epic fail!
