It doesn't take a genius to know that eating is like an addition. Watch any of those TLC docs on tv with the people who weigh 500 lbs + & you'll see a majority of them don't like the way they look but say it's really hard to break that cycle of overeating. I imagine it's like you said of some druggie who can't put down the needle/pipe....or a dude who puts video games in front of everything in his life/girlfriend..... or some cock gobbling whore who cheats on her boyfriend time after time & just can't stop. I would think it all comes down to a comfortable cycle that people get used to.

If you're really intersted in being morbidly obese I say pick up a book about it or turn on the tv....maybe eat an entire box of Oreos while you're at it....just for kicks!

If you're really interested in "learning what causes someone" being morbidly obese I say pick up a book about it or turn on the tv....

Yea, I do that too. But when I'm at work alone with nothing else to and something is on my mind I will discuss it in an open forum on here, makes my day go by quicker.

I believe Discovery Health has a show called the Brooklyn Obesity Clinic. It's chronicles people who check in and who are trying to lose 100's of pounds. I have watched it a few times.

Sometimes it's very depressing though. On a few occasions they have highlighted a patient who doesn't care if they kill themselves with food, and continue to eat too much food (they let the patients order in food, if they want... because they have to learn how to not want that crap in the real world... and withholding food from the patients results in them checking out).

Yeah that's the show I was thinking of!

I ended up watching it one night & got suckered in. It's really sad how those people are slowly killing themselves but I kinda look at it the same way as when I watch Intervention. It's just a world of addiction that some people can break out of but some can't.

If you think Ruth's Chris NY strip is good, then you are missing out on a lot of choice steaks in this town.

I'm fat. I know it. I work out 3-4 times a week, play soccer now, and try not to stuff my face with garbage. I got super skinny about 6 years ago, but the wrong way. Doing it the right way, I'm only going to lose so much and still be overweight, it's just in the genes.














Why don't you ask the fatties for advice on getting a checking account and give them advice on not being fatty?

Eating disorders come in multiple forms.

Not to mention, there are some people who have thyroid disorders and no insurance.

Extra weight on other people does not bother me until it comes coupled with two other things:
- A bad attitude
- Incredible laziness

When I go up a half flight of stairs, then down a flight of stairs, and up 2 flights of stairs to arrive at my post at work which requires me to literally run up and down a flight of stairs dozens of times, there is absolutely NOTHING that irks me more than an obese person who wants to give me a huge attitude about walking DOWN just 2 flights.

Its even worse in the music building at school. I love it when the elevator goes out. Some of the clarinetists, flautists and singers won't shut up about having to walk to 2nd and 3rd floor classes, all the while oblivious to the fact that they are being passed in the stairwells by me carrying my upright bass and the tympani players carrying their drums...

There is one particularly large opera singer who lives so close to campus that I frequently end up having to park by her apartment when I arrive at inopportune times....... And yet she drives to class, and when she can't find a parking spot she ditches class.

I am not a particularly thin girl (though I can get away with wearing a bikini without making anyone puke), but I really cannot stand complaints about having to make the physical exertion required for basic transportation.

lots of times food isn't the real issue with morbidly obese people, its something else like emotional trauma or control issues. food can be such a comfort, and people with problems they aren't willing to face often turn to food to make their pain go away. of course, then they've got a new problem of overeating and all-around unhealthy eating habits. they might try dieting but it won't be a long-lasting solution until they deal with whats really wrong.
