Some companies just don't like to spend money on IT. I'm sure if there was any department in your corporation that wanted more money for better toys, it'd be those nerds. They have to maintain and stay under a budget as well (while still justifying their jobs). I don't imagine that your Admin has much control over anything budget related. Your company don't make money buying new computers, they make money selling widgets or whatever it is you sell and beating you up over expenses.

Those sales guys not being able to do their job..... no money for IT

IT is a cost center and sales is a revenue center. IT works to support the cats the bring in the $$$. A thankless job but most of them make up for it in the asshole quotient

I'll just put it to you this way. If I don't call on those engineers working on "important projects", then you don't get power to your computer to play on DDM all day.

As a person in IT that has to deal with idiot users all day, I can guarantee that your IT department would LOVE to give you a new laptop just to get you to shut the fuck up and go away. If they're not allowed to order you a new one then you need to complain to management, not at IT.

Besides 4 laptops in a year and a half? That's on you as the user. The IT guys aren't doing anything to fuck up 4 computers.
