i just suffered thru a tangerine bridesmaid dress last weekend ($180)... there was a cash bar at the reception (no free booze) and the wedding was in arkansas. also- the bachelorette party included a mississipi casino and another bridesmaid getting so drunk she pissed all over herself. i don't think it gets much worse than that.

i dunno. personally i think if someone wants you to be a bridesmaid, it means they care about you enough to include you in an important day of their life and you should suck it up and do whatever to make them happy on their 'special day'. the bride should at least hire someone to do everyone's hair and make up for them though. i wouldn't leave hair and makeup decisions up to each individual bridesmaids.

i'm flattered that she asked of course, but i wish she had accepted my "no thanks" answer. besides, i would still be there for her important day; i'd just be a guest. i don't see whats so special about being in the wedding party.

Being a bridesmaid stressed me out. It's a lot of money and so much you have to do.. get the dress, alterations, hair, makeup, nails, shoes, gifts... luckily I've only had to be one once.

Stacy's just having her bride's maids wear whatever they think makes them look the best and will be comfortable for them. Obviously they have to stick to the color scheme of the wedding but that's it. Seems like a pretty good way to keep everyone happy to me.

I never really minded being a bridesmaid as I saw it as an honor that my friends and sister who got married, wanted me to stand beside them. BUT... it is expensive. I was in two weddings about 3 months after my husband left... I was broke as hell and had to fly to Corpus Christi to be in the weddings. I could barely pay my bills and I had to buy shoes, a dress (one was bought for me I think), pay for my hair, etc. When another friend of mine got married I did the bachelorette party... and that was expensive. Footed that bill too. So the nice thing to do to your friends is to NOT include them in your wedding, but it's a tradition and all that jazz.

| the biggest stressors for me are that this is the first time i'll be meeting my guy's entire family and that i get incredibly nervous being in front of large groups of people. and when i'm nervous like that, i do stupid shit like trip over my own feet. and won't THAT be fabulous lol.

Whoa, one of my friends is getting married & I'm going to be a brides maid, she has like 6 brides maid & one of the ppl we have known for a while REALLY wanted to be one. She's 30 yrs old & have NEVER been one so she begged & finally my friend gave in. Then like a month ago she told, "I don't even want her in my wedding. I'm just going to ignore her." I was like, "You better tell her, she's been telling EVERYONE!!" So we both just kinda forgot, but then a couple of weeks ago the wannabe brides maid was going over what color of dresses we were gonna have. I just told her that the wedding is off. I guess I cursed the REAL wedding & my buddy & her man just broke off their wedding. OMG. O_o lol So some chicks REALLY wanna be brides maids.
