i post a myspace bulletin at least once a week about this same topic,

text message promoting is desperate all together and does nothing for you as far as promoting your weekly/event, if your gonna send a text out make it a personall text message to your homies inviting them out personally not a paragraph of b.s

and the trophy for mass texting definately goes to fucking Matt Jahnel, EMT, JIN LIFE, and Acces Dallas, OMG and Pasha Nights is the worst.

I text message my friends that I would like to see come out... but I don't put up drink specials and all that shit. That's pretty obvious it's going to all your address book and not to people you really want to come.

1. I don't send out weekly text messages promoting gigs because I don't like getting them either. I rarely send out texts at all... about anything. For gigs, I send them out for one-offs and special occasions and that's it... not weekly by any means. So saying that I over-promote with texts is not accurate. I get replies back regularly saying 'I will be there' or 'thanks for telling me'. I don't think I have ever gotten one back that says 'please remove me'. As far as me not liking getting them (Kelle), the one time I said something was at 1:30 in the morning on a Wednesday night... but I think that was due to your phone acting weird and sending it delayed or something. Other than that, I just delete them. Shit, it doesn't even really bother me anymore because all my texts are on vibrate... so if it's at night or something I don't even know. Oh, and I also go through ever person in my phone and choose who I am sending it to... so I'm not sending it to everyone in my address book. My phone is used for work a lot and I don't send them to coworkers.

2. It wasn't early in the morning by any means. I believe it was around noon. If I woke you then I apologize. Us old folks get up early on Sundays.

3. I didn't send it out because I 'need people at my gigs'. Barcadia will be busy either way. It always is on a Sunday. However, it'll be a fun afternoon and I thought some other folks might want to enjoy it as well. I can't always keep track of who is on DDM and who is just on my phone.

4. If you send me a reply asking me to remove you from my phone I will gladly do so. Soulero, who are you? Sorry, but I can't keep half the screen names on DDM straight from people I actually talk to on the phone. I apologize. Let me know and I'll refrain in the future. Again, you could have just shot me a message or a PM and I would have apologized and removed you, instead of trying to call me out and make me look like a fool. Sorry I upset you so drastically.

5. Juan, you got some issue with me that you can't discuss in person? Because online over the past week or two you've been taking subtle little shots at me left and right. If you've got some issue, and I'm not sure what it would be, then why not just mention it to me when I see you out or at an afterparty instead of being all nice and then taking shots later? Or if you're just being a dick for shits and grins then ok. Maybe I'm being over-sensitive, but it's just the way it's been coming across. If I did something to irritate you, just let me know in an adult manner instead of jabbing at me. Again, if I am mistaken then let me know and I'll admit to being on my period.

That's because I know you aren't in Dallas. Like I said, I don't do mass texts of my whole address book. I pick and choose. I actually enjoy seeing the people I send them to out and about. And usually if it's someone who is on DDM and I know who they are in my phone, I don't send them one either because I assume they saw it here... except for Eric and a few people who forget to even put on their pants in the morning.

this is exactly my method. if i send you a text it is because I WANT to see you out at my show or wherever I am intiving you to. Its not to raise head count or bar sales.
