not fun. especially right now. but it is a buyer's market so you should get a good deal. let me know if you have any questions with your mortgage. we do quite a bit of purchase biz at my shop.

It seems like everyone who goes to buy a home ends up in this forum bitching about it at some point.

No one has made it seem fun.

But hey, when it's all said and done, you got a house and you won't have to mess with it again for MANY years!

It isn't really that complicated of a process. IMO the reason you see these threads is because the people who have bought or are buying homes are proud of the fact that they are doing so, and rightfully so. Homeownership is a significant step in someones life.

Instead of creating a "DUDEZ, I AM FATTY BALLIN' I JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE" thread, they let everyone know that they did with the facade of a "OMG homeownership is sooooo hard" thread.

The home buying process was fun for us. We made one bad choice, but everything turned out great in the long run. I look at it as more of a learning experience, now that I have my first home under my belt, I cant wait to buy another one.

knowledge

Remeber you are the buyer, and right now buyers call the shots.

edit: Our Realtor was awesome too, he had a very dry sense of humor, and hated every other realtor...complete dickhead.

i have never had an issue and it has always been a pleasant experience. i blame that success on a financial consultant who knows her shit and goes above and beyond her call of duty. these people work for you, so make them do their job.

when i bought my house, it was pretty painless. no hidden costs at closing or any of that shit. my real estate agent and mortgage broker were very upfront. i ended up paying pretty much exactly what they told me. hell, they rounded the numbers up throughout most of the process and then when it came down to closing, i ended up paying a little less than they originally told me.

nothing better than the feeling of owning your own home. and fixing stuff sucks but i find i get much more enjoyment out of it doing it myself rather than having someone do it for me. caulked my tub last weekend and knowing i saved myself a couple hundred bucks by doing it myself is more than worth it.

Same here....no problems, issues, etc for me.

It all depends, I guess.

I've been in the mtg business for many years though, so I knew what to expect, who to use, and how to avoid problems. Plus I knew what kind of loan I wanted, what rates were available, etc. Definitely, if you need any help, let me know little mama

Tomorrow marks the end of our first month in our home.

The whole process of purchasing a home is like an emotional roller coaster. Lots of highs and lows. Don't get your hopes up on any particular home...and try to be patient. Also...plan on spending more than what the "high range" is on your search. The 2 weeks leading up to closing were nerve-wracking...but in the long run it has been so worth it.

Just to reiterate what everyone else up here has already been saying...it's a Buyer's Market...don't let anyone bullshit you around. If someone does...take your money elsewhere...you'll thank yourself later for it. It's also very wise to go ahead and learn as much of the ins and outs of the mortgage process and real estate process from the go ahead. This will help to protect you and help you know when you are being bullshitted. Good Luck...

If you need a name or contact of who we went through hit me up.
