I feel so overwhelmed. I know I post about animal stuff on here all the time. This time it's more about me I guess. There are so many that need help. Not just the rescues at shelters - at least they have a decent place to stay. I am talking about the ones used in fights, the ones kept on chains with no food, water or shelter. The ones beat, left for dead after a dog fight in the street.

Can we get help from anyone? You would think the authorites, right? No. No help from Dallas Animal Services or the police. No one wants the responsibilty. Now this shit has taken over because assholes know no one will do anything about it. I see it all the fucking time. If I can find it with one trip to West/South Dallas I know they can too.

This leaves me and the few others that work to save them. It's like you save one, but there are thousands more. I don't understand the mentality. How can a few people do what is needed when the authorities won't lift a finger to help????!!!! Anyone remember the last time you heard about the police breaking up dog fights in Dallas? That's right, because it doesn't fucking happen.

Fuck I feel like screaming and crying at the same time Life is shitty and unfair and people are fucking assholes.

Well, I guess the story about the boy throwing the starfish back into the sea is a little cheesy... but it does apply here.

You can't save them all. But the ones you do save, it matters to that one dog.

It's sad because to do work where you help dogs... people... you have to have a huge heart. But you can't care too much or you will go insane from being so upset over what you see and have to witness... not to mention that you can't help all of them.

People are fucking assholes. It really angers and upsets me when I know how they abuse animals and other humans. I don't get it. But if you save just one dog, then you have made a difference.

Ya I try to remember every dog counts but it's very overwhelming when you realize the people you thought were there to back you up aren't. All of sudden it's you plus a couple of people against the city of Dallas. It's more than I want to take on but now that I have seen it I can't turn back. Ignorance is fucking bliss that's for damn sure.

My suggestion to you would be to make your voice louder. Organize, recruit, grow and influence. Nobody gives two shits about one woman trying to change things, but organized groups of like-minded individuals will get noticed. Think about it.

Already in the process. It's a political game, not a rescue one. There are a ton of organizations that scream and shout but even then they are put to the side. It's about appealing to the masses on a different level than poor, hurt doggies, because most of the time they think it's sad, but it doesn't affect them. Sucks but that's the way it is. I wish it was simple but money and politics has never been that way.

I agree. I understand your extreme passion for animals and wanting to save them all....but the sad truth is that it's not humanly possible. Just look at all the good you have already done and coninue to do and know that there are others out there like you. There are many people who spend their time, money, and effort, for the greater good of these animals, but even with authorities involved they still won't be able to help/save them all.
I know it has to be frustrating to not get them the help they need, and for authorities not to be willing....but you have to keep your head up, for yourself and for those you have yet to help. Stay strong and continue on your path, as you will and already have inspired others to get involved as well. It's a sad reality to accept, but even the smallest difference is still a difference.

Try not to focus on the ones you are unable to help or get to, because there will always be those animals, and if you get caught up on them, you are putting energy where it is wasted rather than putting it to the dogs you ARE able to save and doing things you ARE able to affect. Stay focused, stay positive, and make sure you have a really good outlet for those times when you get so bogged down. You're a compassionate woman and are cappable of a lot, in any feild you want. Try to remind yourself daily that you are a good person who is doing something great and you're trying to help as best as you can. I can't imagine how draining it is, but keep your head up and remember each day all the precious souls you have contributed in saving.

nope, you're wrong. it really does. if they don't have the money to enforce it, then they don't enforce it.

kinda like how the red light cameras were costing money because they worked so well and people weren't running the lights anymore generating revenue.. so they turned them off.

the city has about a $40 million shortfall and those cuts have to come somewhere. being animal cops doesn't take precedent over other things.. like i said, it sucks, but it's the reality of the situation.

what you are doing is great. without you, think of how much worse it would be.

Actually I am not wrong, but thanks The city of Dallas haas no animal cops in the first place. Trust when I say I have an understanding of how this all works right now.

well... they aren't going to get any and they won't be wasting time enforcing the laws that are already there if they don't have the money to do so. that's all i'm saying. there is no money. they are broke.
