No overdraft protection? I'm a ton better than I used to be. Just remember all the baby stuff you could have bought with that money girl! You just gotta watch that shit all the time. Take your reciepts, put them somewhere in your purse that you see all the time as a reminder. Take a little time out of each day or every other day to write it all down. Check your bank account daily. It's just a habit you have to force yourself into. Once it becomes a habit it will start to bother you not knowing what is going on in your bank at all times.

i used to have the overdraft protection but the way my bank did it was bullshit. they make you get a credit card of theirs and then lets say you go $3 over, well they pull $100 off the card and put it in your account. Then what does my dumb ass do? Spend the $100 and then pay interest on it b/c its from my credit card. I had to give it up.

I put myself on a pre-paid VISA for about a year to train myself to not over spend. I haz self dis'plin. I even used to have my man, at the time, give him his entire pay check b/c that knuckle head would blow his bills money on raving, records & recreationals. I get my menz in check.

Don't feel bad Nina. Amy and I do the same thing. We don't use checks except for a couple bills that we can't do online. Working on rectifying that problem these past few months.

checks are dumb if you ask me. It may seem like you cant live without them but its pretty easy. I pay all my bills directly from my savings account. I have direct deposit. I just go to an ATM and grab cash for food, gas and anything else I need that week. You can still over draw a savings account, but when you deposit money its never on hold. If you have to have a check money orders are only .99 and that is a lot cheaper than check over drafts. I also don't have to worry about a stolen check book either. |

I'd buy some shoes w/a check since I left my cards somewhere & then find my card & check the balance & think, "Cool, lots of money for this weekend. I have somewhere to wear my new shoes!"
