Since May I've had 19 overdrafts. Its not that I don't have the money. Its just sitting in another acct and I'm too lazy to transfer it over.

I've paid $665 in overdrafts in the last 3 months

balancing a checkbook is like taking out the trash. it's just an annoyance. i've been on a cash/credit system only for the last couple of months and it's working out great.

im the same way. I just had 5 overdrafts. I had more than enough money to cover the 34 dollars that all 5 of them added up to in another account. :-/ I do that shit all the time.
I'd rather not look at how many overdrafts ive had in the past 6 months. Im sure its probably close to a whole paycheck.

Stop writing checks, problem solved.

This day in age.....when is there ever a need to write a check anymore? Just use the Debit card, and check balances online or at an ATM.

Thats a good chunk of money in EFT's.

yeah...you don't need anybody to type to you how ridiculous that is!!! and you haz monies!!!!!!

and it's not too good to rely on using debit and not writing that shit down (just as stupid) sometimes it takes a minute for the balances to come up correctly and you could overspend....actually writing a check would be better for keeping your CHECKbook balanced because the register is right there. I had the most over fee's when i had a debit....hence no debit. Just get cash for what i need and if i run out of cash it's PROBABLY time or me to stop spending anyways.

my bank requires i keep at least $750 in my checking account at all times, otherwise they will ding me an $8 "maintenance" fee. out of the 7 years i have had this account, i've only been dinged twice because i went under the $750 threshold. it's a great tool to keep yourself in check. i like it a lot, even though most people would say it sucks.

and the only time i use a check is when i have to mail a payment. 99% of my purchases/bills are debit/cash or online payment. i haven't laid my hands on a checkbook in years. everything is online these days.

Stupid monthly bank reconciliations.

I used to round up for every transaction that I recorded so that I would trick myself into having more money than I thought, but that always turned into a hot mess. lol
