Roommate does not clean. At all, ever. That doesn't bother me except that she's actively dirty (as opposed to passively dirty). Passively dirty would just be never sweeping or forgetting to clean the floor around her cats litter box or not doing dishes. Actively dirty is leaving trash on the floor or counter not two feet from the goddamn trashcan. Its leaving a trail of dirty clothes and dusty shoes from the front door to the door of her room. Its making enough food for 3 people, eating enough food for a small child and leaving the rest of it to congeal, harden or rot in her room. She doesn't clean her cats litter box, except maybe once a month or when we tell her to - and its in the only bathroom.

And the saddest part is, she's gotten better and its still this bad. Now she offers to dry dishes when I'm washing them. Now she leaves recyclables on the counter for me to wash and sort properly instead of just leaving them all over the apartment. But she still does shit like drop a can of Dr. Pepper, watch it spin and fizz and shoot cola ALL OVER THE KITCHEN and then say to me, as I'm cleaning all the walls and cabinets "oh. You found my mess."

I cannot wait to move out of here.

"Actively dirty" - I like that. I've alway been a passive slob, but I can't stand real filth. My wife used to be like that until I laid the (verbal) smackdown on her enough times. Something about having kids makes women want to clean and cook, and I'm definitely not complaining.

Maybe if you snuck into her room one night with a turkey baster she'd start getting her clean on. Y'know, nesting and all that.

If so, buy a gram of the stickiest weed you can find and tell her if she cleans you will let her smoke it ALL. Its sadly worked for me before....

i can wallow to a certain point, and then i'm like a cleaning cyclone through the house. mostly my mess is clothes, shoes, and school stuff though.

Every morning I start in the kitchen. I do my dishes, wipe the counters down, take the trash out if needed. Then I pick up the living room, which is usually just straightening up. Then I make the bed and wipe down my computer desk and the bathroom. Then I Swiff the entire house and go outside to groom and water my flower bed. All of it takes about 30 minutes and it helps me wake up.

I dust and mop and really get in the cracks every two weeks at the very least, but try to get it once a week because of our animals. None of it's hard work and I just put on music or Sirius and get it done. There's just no excuse for living in squalor.
