Figured I should give a status update.
Situation finally to a close.

I had to not just come in alone like I had been. I brought someone I indirectly work with. Trust me, he's very easily identifiable, and notorious enough that if ANYONE saw this man arrive at their work, they'd go "oh fuck" too. He didn't do or say anything, though.. He just gave me a ride.. LoL! It was plenty enough.

I was able to get the dealer to take my car to another mechanic.. One that I was familiar with... Who did the apparently easy fix very quickly and got everything back together.

I picked up my car yesterday, and its perfect.

Then today..... It came within a hair of getting totalled.

I was driving down 35 getting home from Denton when just barely north of 635 everyone started slamming on their brakes. Anytime I have to do a quick stop, I check my rearview mirror. I saw the little black compact behind me come to a stop just fine, but there was a black truck behind them that was obviously missing the quick stop. I hear the truck's tire's squeal, then I saw the impact with her bumper parts flying all over the highway. Her car was pushed into mine, and all I thought was "FUCK! I just got my car back goddamn it!" Then I see another blue car coming up OVER the cab of the black truck. After it reaches a certain height of airborn-ness, the blue car jerks midair, and comes down on its side sorta.. It was leaning at like a 60 degree angle onto the truck.

So I pull over, and get out... With all the selfishness of someone who is barely in a new car, I checked my car first. I was amazed to discover not a single scratch on it. I checked the bumper of the car that got pushed into me, and nothing there either.... But I saw parts of her car go flying, so I knew the back end wasn't so pretty. Looked at the back of her car.... She no longer has a trunk. Then I look back further to see the black truck is still drivable, though pretty beat up.... And then I discover that it was a tow truck, and the blue car was the car that was on the back of it. It was now hanging haphazardly off to the driver's side of the truck.

The tow driver said that when he hit the car behind me, the towed car was propelled forward over his cab. Just before they both slid into me, the tow strap ran out of slack, which is why I saw the blue car suddenly fall to its side from mid-air, but it also pulled the tow truck.. significantly reducing its momentum, which in turn reduced the speed that he pushed the car into me.

Viola.... I drove out of a 4-car accident completely unscathed.

I feel like I have a guardian angel.
I keep coming to the realization that I almost lost my new car, and that the accident could have been deadly very easily. If the tow strap broke, I would have had the front of a blue sedan in my back cargo through the back window, and the girl behind me would have likely been smooshed in an ridiculously dangerous way.... If the towed car hadn't been there, I'd have a crumpled tailgate from the momentum of the cars sliding into me.

Its like that blue car was sacrificed in order to save me from disaster.
I feel like I need to find out who's car was being towed so I can send them flowers, and my contact information..

I'm also beginning to wonder if this car is proving to be bad luck.
