![]() | Finding out a family cat has thyroid disease.
She's 18 years old and lost 8 of her 13 lbs in the last year or so, so it's not really that big of a surprise. I can't believe the other vet missed it. Vet says she has about 6 months to a year before the pain kicks in and we have to put her down.

18 is a good age though isnt it? I dont mean to say this in a rude manner, but well, if it wasnt this, chances are it would be have been something else or ten considering her age and all. at least you got to have a long run with her! I am sorry for you, and the kitty.

![]() | Because vets are always right? Didn't a vet miss the diagnosis the first time? Anyway, sorry about your feline.

![]() | agreed. no one can predict when an animal will begin suffering. when i worked at a vet awhile back, during training i was taught that animals are extremely tough cookies. they will tough it out for a long time before they start outwardly showing signs of discomfort, and when they do start showing pain, it usually means that the pain is severe. i'm really sorry about your kitty.
