Bait dogs I can't get to - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Yes another dog thread but I need to vent or I am going to cry at work.

Bait dogs are aqquired from free to good home ads, pets taken from people's yard, stray dogs, etc. that dog fighters use to get their fighting dog all riled up. The bait dogs are usually torn to pieces bit by bit. If they survive they continue to use them until they die.

There are several bait dogs at a location that I am currently working with the new Dallas Animal Services director on. DAS tried to tell us it's not a dog fighting operation but we know that is bullshit. I have reports and pictures of the dogs there - the reports go back to 2005, and the pictures are from July (the dogs change in every picture) when we first visited the location up until Monday.

I know in my gut they are bait dogs. In the pictures this sweet beagle is chained to the fence. His eyes look so sad and helpless. He will probably die in a few days, most likely this weekend.

And I can't do shit about it. It's killing me. This picture hurts me so badly I cannot explain. It's like someone wants to help but all we can do is sit back and know that next week when the follow up is made, he won't be there because he's dead

I wish I could but they are watching now and it will ruin our case. We basically have to let them die. Fucking sucks so bad.

That sucks and is depressing. I feel you though; seeing people mistreat animals isn't cool. You can always tell an abused foster from the rest.

So, how much info on these scum do you need to make a prosecution? Do you need more intel? More documentation of their goings-on?

I could not work in the field that you do Sarah. It would drive me insane. I know that's the classic "out of sight out of mind" mentality, but seriously, I don't think I could handle this sort of thing. I would be in the same state of mind you are right now all the time.

Yeah it fucking sucks. Rescue burnout is quite common. I was going through it for awhile but after a few recent events I feel like I am back on track. It is much easier to pretend it's not happening, I just can't do that.

Thanks! It's actually pretty complicated. Right Dallas Animal Services won't do anything so my group is pushing for some major changes in Dallas.

They pretty much have to be caught in the act because otherwise DAS doesn't give a shit. That fucks us in pretty every case we have on other houses.
