unemployment office

I got laid off two days before Thanksgiving and since I'm having a difficult time finding a new position I filled for unemployment, which I'll be surprised if I get it because I only worked 24 hours a week.

Anyway......I called last week and it took me 15 min to get through because the Dallas number was busy. Got everything squared away and applied and it was all good.

Get a few letters in the mail stating I reset my pin, I've moved and changed addresses and then one telling me that they will pay my benefits but it was for the company I worked for prior to the one I just got laid off at.

Trying to call again and the Dallas number is constantly busy. I understand a shit ton of people are out of work and collecting unemployment but seriously
how are you suppose to conduct fucking business if you're shit is busy all the fucking time?

many many years ago, i tried the unemployment thing. at that time, the data they used to calculate your benefits (hours worked, pay rate, etc.) was from 6 months prior to your getting laid off. i always thought that was odd.

Well that would explain why they've listed my former former employer instead of the one I was just laid off from.

The only reason I'm applying right now is because the economy is so fucked and I've sent my resume out to god knows how many people at this point and have only had one interview thus far.

Yes it's the holiday season and I know it will be a bit more difficult to find something right this very second, but seriously.....get some more phone lines in your office!

I hope so. I've already sent my resume out to a shit ton of people and had only one bite back on that and it was for a CPA. They went with someone else, but I don't think it would have worked out anyway because once I graduate I'm going into the industry my degree is in.

I've tried to find a job as a receptionist or admin in that industry, but have had no luck what so ever.
