Damn iPod Nano

So I bought mine in 2006... for $200. At the time, the 4G was the one with the largest memory.

Well, that memory is not enough for all my 2-hour DJ sets I want on there.

Now, the fucking Nano, 16G, sells for $200. That pisses me off.

I think I'm going to have to suck it up and go buy a new one... very soon.

Not I just gotta pick my color... purple, blue or pink... hhhuuummm.

its called technology. 20 years ago walkmans cost 200$ and they only held 90 minutes of music.

Well yeah... but this is why I don't ever buy anything. The minute I buy it, they come out with something better for the same price.

And a Walkman never "held" music. I know it's before your time, but you would put a tape in a Walkman.

it held cassettes, which held music. and lady, i had the biggest collection of hip hop cassettes in 8th grade, which was '89.

Now a 1000gig harddrive is a hundred bucks

BTW- I still have a huge case full of cassette tapes. Although I don't have a player. Damn, I want a tape player now!

Do you remember actually buying records... not to DJ, but because that is what everyone bought?

I do. My friend had bought the new Erasure record... and we played it on her record player and danced around the bedroom to it. Funny.

Have you tried converting the mixes to smaller bit rates? It usually allows for a few more mixes to be loaded.

How do I do that? I have some podcasts I want to load on there, but there isn't enough space on my iPod for them. And I deleted all I'm going to delete.

download any decent audio editor program, open the file and save as with a different bitrate

or do a search for mp3 bitrate changer, there are some programs out there that will let you do it in a batch.

It should be on your settings option. It should say covert higher bit rate files to 128kbps aac. It should make the file size smaller if the podcast is loaded at higher bit rate than 128.

That MIGHT work but most podcasts are saved as m4b's so the program would have to be able to read that format.

I use sound forge to convert mp3mixes I download from online to 96kbps. Saves loads of space.

I bought a 4 gig memory card for my phone for 15 bucks at MicroCenter the other day. I use that as my mp3 player. Shit is getting crazier by the day.

This is why you are either on the "bleeding edge" or like me and just waiting for bleeding edge to become a dull strip so that I can capitalize on discounts.

I still don't have an HD TV and probably won't until I NEED to. 6 and 7 series will lower in price and when tax time comes around I'll be able to score something good, but not great (but passable to me since it will be leaps and bounds above what it is replacing).
