![]() | so my work is implementing a Wellness program
and while it is great in theory, it is the most retarded and frustrating thing when actually done in reality. reason? the people heading and planning the program aren't thinking about wellness in general; they're just taking their ideas of diet, "wellness", and "healthy", and applying it to everyone else. example 1: they're getting rid of all the sodas because they're unhealthy BUT they're leaving all the diet sodas because the CEO drinks them. nevermind that the artificial sweeteners have been linked to cancer.... example 2: i went to get sample box lunches from Whole Foods today for my boss to check out, and she was absolutely disgusted that the organic potato chips in the lunch had 9g of fat (and it wasn't trans fat). a bag of lays chips has 27g. nuff said. everytime i have to talk about this program i feel like WTF |

Give it a few weeks. It'll fail. You can't force a floor full of fat fucks to sack up and permanently change a way of life they've been cultivating for years. People are going to get irritated and someone is going stick someone else's hand in a paper shredder. Another bitch is going to catch a stapler to the back of the head.

Might as well get rid of the coffee machines too since those are unhealthy. Retarded. That's like my wanna be ex gf that bitched about me eating red meat when she smoked and drank like a fucking sailor.

I don't think most Americans are fat entirely because they're lazy. If you wanna see lazy try dealing with Europeans. Seriously. The problem imo is that we are mostly obese because we work too hard. A friend pointed out to me last night that a lot of the companies who have the resources for employee gyms rarely give them time to use them. Corporate culture has an intrinsically unbalanced expectation of work hours, especially in the higher pressure, deadline driven fields. Working 50-60+ hours a week doesn't leave you with much time or energy to do anything aside from sleep, take care of household duties and of course work. Indeed laziness, our increasingly sedintary lifestyle and hormone, carb, fat and alcohol filled diets play no small part in this dynamic, but so does work, and it's such an easily solvable problem. I propose that companies should not only offer an hour of unpaid time daily for lunch but an additional 1-3 hours of unpaid time for daily exercise and just have people work 9-8 instead of 9-5. Yes, I'm sure people would use the time for something other than exercise, but I would estimate that allowing people the opportunity to exercise at a point during the day when they are the most awake and energetic (typically about noon) would make them more prone to embrace healthier lifestyle choices. Most of us who have lived in the corporate world are used to being at work until 8 on the regular anyway, and being able to go and blast it out in the gym during the day would make people have the energy to keep up with the demands of their jobs. The hours are there in the day to accomplish everything we need to, I just think the schedule needs to be adjusted. That being said I hope to never work for starched shirt wearing golf vampires again. My lard ass is going to hit the bench like a man and start cranking off some miles when I get settled in Greece. I have no excuse whatsoever. I'm coming back next year lean.

one of my favorite things about being in the service was I got paid to work out. I use to eat all kinds of whatever and was in the best shape. They need to have free gym memberships and 2 hour lunches for people who work out, if they wanna be healthy.

lol It's so funny that people think being healthy means only eating diet shit. My diet has done a 180 and the only low-fat thing I consume is milk. So dumb cutting out the sodas and not the diets...and like you can't bring in your own

I would GLADLY stay an hour later at work if I could have a 2 hour lunch. That would kick so much ass.

While I was in the service they had this big push to get people in better shape. Apparently too many of the guys were getting out of shape and maybe they were expecting conflict with China over Taiwan. So they signed up volunteers for the smoking cessation program (10 years later I'm still an ex-smoker). Well the fun part was having to sit there and listen to a lecture from a civilian on how to eat properly and the merits of exercise. She must have gone to school for this job because she as a big girl. Looked like she hadn't done a push up in her life. Well it's a room full of in shape military combat systems guys listening to a fat chick tell us we should work out more often and eat right. um....no you have no credibility here.
