Oh yeah, Kenny - you're welcome to change the locks if you like, but be advised that if you do, you're legally required to provide her with a key upon request, and that you have to be willing to do so 24 hours a day. If you're out somewhere and she calls you at 3:00am wanting in, you HAVE to go let her in. In other words, it's not recommended.

I've told her several times before, but she's seriously never around for me to talk to now. Doesn't answer phone, email, or texts.

I wrote it firmly in an email this morning saying she needs to talk to me to work out a payment by Weds or I'm changing the locks. I've printed the email and I plan to put it on her door when I get home too.

I don't know, If I'm required to give her access just because she's listed as an occupant, then the landlord should be able to go after her for her half.

I dunno legally what your options are. But I know that she doesn't have the $ to go after you legally if you boot her. Just don't do anything that could get you in trouble, including throwing out her stuff.

yeah, I won't.

None of us want to go to court. I'll hit up the TAA for more info about changing the locks, and at least look into my options for legal action.

It really sucks because we were friends, she is nice, and she was a good roomie except for the whole paying the rent thing
