Getting ears gauged and having to take them out

A six is not that big. And if you gauged it from anything other than a 8 or 10 directly to a six it's going to fucking hurt and you are doing it wrong anyway.
It's not the pain you need to worry about, it's the fact that if you are removing and reinserting your gauges and they are that painful, you are doing damage to your earlobes. You are going to cause scar tissue, which in turn will never allow your ears to fully heal correctly and you will end up with stupid looking holes with creases.

I speak from experience, i gauged my ears from a 22 to a 16 just by popping em in and then went from a 16 to a 4 in a week. One ear healed back to about an 18 and the other I can still get a 6 or 8 in and I havent worn any earrings in over 2 years.

I got lucky that they dont look like a puckered asshole, just a hole. You may not be so lucky.
Putting holes in your body actually takes some thought and patience.
If you cant have them at work, go find some clear or skin colored plugs and see if they let you have that, that way you dont have to take them out all the time.

My ears have been pierced for years, but I haven't worn them in years. I had them gauged to a ten two weeks before. I then went to a 6 and had to start working the next day. It's getting better. I'll try those clear ones for sure.

I don't think not getting your ears gauged, makes you grown up. That's just stooopid.
