I just found out I got into school, EXCEPT:
I can't afford it because I have a crappy job, except...
My job will pay for my school if I pass all my classes, except...
I have to pay for it up front, and have no money.
Not to mention I have traffic tickets I can't afford to pay either and will probably go to jail.

you can get student loans to pay for your school and then use the money from your work to pay back the student loans

you just can't use grants and then get the money from your work... at least from my experience

depending on where you're at in your degree you can go to DCCCD which is cheaper, you should be able to pay for those classes out of pocket and then have your work reimburse you

ugh loans. plan on paying several thousand dollars more back than you borrowed. a lot of people are in retarted life long debt because they got a loan for a degree that they can't make enough money with to pay loans back quickly.


IMO you should only take out loans if:
you can easily make enough to pay the loans back in the first years of having your degree.
you plan on going to graduate school after getting your bachelors.

what you said makes no sense

if you get 2k in student loans, pay your school, at the end of your semester your work pays you 2k. you pay off the loans. no extra money.

you should be able to get the subsidized loans to pay for your school

btw, i completed my first 2 years at CC and now i'm a senior and i've done grants and loans the whole way and i'm just about done and i have like 5k in loans i have to pay back. and to be honest i didnt even need the 5k so i could've gone the entire way on grants.

i was talking about people who take out much larger loans than 2k.

i was just reading an article about a woman who took out like 60k for law school and she will be paying it off until shes 60.

As far as loans, I went to school and had some loans. Then I said fuck my loans and haven't been paying them for the last few years. I think me getting loans again is probably not going to happen.

The school is DCCCD, and its still more money than I have. I have more money going out than I have coming in, and I live pretty cheap.

I need a couple of day labor jobs. Or some work I can do in my spare time. Or win the lotto. I need to make 1000$ in the next month or so. None of this really solves my money problems with the law though. But traveling to any sort of work is risky when it comes to getting more tickets. Its all a fucking catch 22.

As far as taking out loans, if you think you will make a lot of money... Don't count on getting a job that makes XX,000$ a year. A degree doesn't equal any dollar amount any more. I think the world is fucked up enough that there isn't to much good advice left.

if you are in that kind of trouble then you shouldnt be worrying about getting into school right now. you need to be finding a better paying job and taking care of your responsibilities right now.

Yeah, I do need better income. Education is a good way to get that better income. 10% unemployment and another 10% under employment. Its like that damn TV commercail, need a better job, but don't have skills, need to go to school but dont have the money, need a better job...

Yeah sure I'm responcible, but where is the government or societies responcibility to me? Sure I'm whinning, but I'm also serious. You can't expect people to pay money they don't have. You can't expect me to get a job that doesn't exist. I'm just saying, its a 2-way street, and everything my way seems to be detoured.

the government isn't responsible for paying back your student loans for you. you took out loans and you failed to pay them back after your hours dropped. did you contact them to defer them?

I hate to sound like a jerk, but your the one that is in trouble with the law, no one else put you in that spot...your the one that chose that job, no one else forced you to take it...your the one that is responsible for your self, not the gov't, not your parents, no one else...so why say catch 22, doesnt that mean that its outta your hands, not your fault nothing can be done? it seems to me that you need to grow up and bit, suck it up and do what is needed on your own...but that's just my two cents, I'm sry to hear your missing out on school tho it is expensive that's why I'm paying for only one class at a time, it'll take 10x as long but at least its getting done. hope everything works out for you tho...
