being blunt ... good and bad

so my friends and girl reffer to me as being pretty blunt. My girl says sometimes she appreciates it but sometimes its a bit ruff to swallow what i tell her.... (she knows some things i say are true she just does not want to deal with it) .. sigh

but b/c of the way i am now i have many many friends who come to me during relationship troubles.... guys and girls......... and its starting to get really annoying..

I have a girl who comes to me complaining non stop every 4 days about her b/f. (he is one of my best friends to) she comes to me b/c i dont chose sides, i just tell it how it is.....

the guy does not give her the attention she wants, does not do the sweet little things she wants etc etc.... after hearing about this for a year i tell her hey... he is my boy and all but your obviously not happy so its time to move on.. she refuses, she keeps waiting on him to change, keeps asking me to talk to him and make him realise the things she wants...

sigh... so annoying.. first off you cant change people.. you either accept them for who they are... or they will change for the better in time.. there own time... or when something bad happens and it makes them change...


then i have a guy friend who constantly uses this girl.... hes a dick to her, she is a great girl, but he always comes complaining to me about how she goes out alot.... says he just wants a girl who stays home with him etc etc... after being around this guy for couple years i can tell he is very controlling and manipulative and insecure

i tell this guy these things, tell him he needs to find a different girl, one that suits his needs more, b/c he wants a girl who will wait on him hand and foot and not go hang out with guys etc etc... he gets pissed off...says hes not like that etc etc.. to blunt i guess but he is my friend... do i just sugarcoat it


basically what im trying to say is careful if your going to b dead honest with people and tell them how you see it... most people just want things sugarcoated... most say they can handlel the truth but dont want to... . and the ones who do want to hear your honest opinion are not going to listen to it anyways lol....


im sick of hearing my other g/f complain over an over where are the great guys at.... yet when i point out the two couple great guys she had she left them for the dick heads............. ugh... you had it but you let it go cause you where stupid and selfish and wanted everything...


sorry guys... just tired of hearing everyones relationship problems today

The issue is that bluntness and truthfulness are two different things. Blunt is tactless, this is how it is. Truthfulness you use to say how something it is, but more friendly. So what roos said was spot on.

Secondly, sometimes you just need to tell your friends look, I've given you the advice on what I think, take it or leave it but I can't keep telling you the same thing.

There are people who can communicate and people who can't. It's a skill like anything else. I personally find people who "don't sugarcoat things" to be repulsive and insufferable. Feelings and tact should always come into play when dealing with a friend who comes to you for advice.
