Oh how I loath thee... Standing around looking like a dork with a fist full of drink tickets and a bar that doesn't stock vermouth. Seeing my boss be jovial. Shitty buffet food. Can I pluck my eyes out now and go home please?

I have worked at the same place for the last four years and every year we have this big company Christmas party that I choose not to attend because of those same reasons. It is not because I do not like the people but I really just do not want to see people that I work with in that type of social environment especially my boss. What is even more fucked is that it is always at a hotel so that people do not have to drink and drive or for whatever other type of activities people want to get into. Fucking gross thinking about some of the people I work with doing god knows what...I do have to say though that most of my co-workers really look forward to this and it's a really big fucking deal to them...

i don't go to the work parties because they are super ravetastic fun times. i go because its related to my paycheck in a way. it is unpaid time on the job to me, but i go anyways. it makes the future with these ppl easier. they don't think i'm a snobbypants. i come in, nod my head as they rattle on about nonsense & smile every once in a while. if i'm lucky i don't have to do the horse & pony show of telling them about me. i'd MUCH rather fulfill my social obligation to my employer by encouraging them to talk about themselves. and after i pick at my buffet plate of fooding & have the two drink minimum, i escape into the mystery machine & leave them with a warm fuzzy feeling but no real hard inside information about yours truly. i hate to think of my co-workers doing who knows what in hotels either. so i don't stay that long. make a very special guest appearance & then find the exit. it improves your chances of a raise (just don't get drunken or sloppy, that will revoke your privledges. the point is to prevent raised suspicions. they will make up their overgeneralized ideas about you if you don't throw them a bone)
