To me the whole "finding Jesus" thing is about replacing one obsession with another, and in the case of addicts it's often taken way, way too far. Addictions aren't about the drug, it's a deep and complex psychological flaw driven by many factors with many varying degrees of severity. It's really only in the extreme cases that you see the black and white of it. It makes perfect sense to me that someone of the acute version of this demeanor would adopt dogmatic thinking as a substitute for their drug of choice. And then of course you have nuts who were just brought up that way by nuts who were brought up that way by nuts who were brought up that way. Dogmatic thinking in itself is another multifaceted disorder of the mind, and it's not just restricted to mainstream religion. I see just as much of this in fringe culture i.e. occultism, the 9/11 Truthers, 2012 and other apocalyptic models, and even amongst "serious" psychedelic users (who use them for psychological/spiritual work and not recreationally), especially in the case of ayahuasca. And that's just philosophy we're talking here. Science has its fair share of it as well. It's so ironic to me that we are designed to change and adapt but yet seem so uncomfortable to accept new ideas and world views. I blame culture, and the gays.

![]() | Re: Leaving someone because you found Jesus The guy probably should have been upfront about it. Even if he feels strongly that he found God a simple explanation would have sufficed. While the g/f may not have wanted to hear it , she could have got some closure maybe. Or shit you never know maybe she could have changed some of her daily routines to fit his and still work it out. I don't think people use jesus as a substitute for anything. If you believe in him (REALLY BELIEVE) more power to you.You don't sugar coat your love for him you either do or don't. For those that don't Burn you heathens LOL j/k, i can respect that after all we all have a life and choose what to do. Who and what to believe in. For anyone that hits rock bottom whether an addict, some fucked up loon or whatever. If God can change your fortunes around that is great, it's a great feeling to be able to change. It's kinda crazy that now a days people like that are looked as the outsiders. Ne-wayz wish the best for both of them.

You're a reformed tweeker but you're not an addict. I mean you drink and stuff right Abby? There's a difference between going through a phase of dumb and being an addict.

If I was with somebody and they went all holy roller, I may have to leave them. That shit gets annoying quick.
