What gets me are the folks who ask around for help with quitting but don't want to listen to what people tell them.

I've come across a few smokers who keep saying they want to quit and as soon as they get some good solid suggestions from folks who have successfully quit, they dismiss it as impossible. "Oh you quit cold turkey? Well that's never going to happen" or "Yeah but i'm addicted." As if other smokers weren't addicted and had it a lot easier or some how didn't have problems in our lives at the time we quit.

Instead they do to folks who tried to quit and keep failing as if this person is going to be more understanding and have a more successful approach.

It's almost like they'd rather listen to people who quit and fail than those who have quit and never started up again.

At that point I don't think you really want to quit. You're gonna have to want it, momma.

I quit cold turkey after smoking from ages 17-23. I just didnt buy anymore.

I took tha prescription "quitting" pills for tha first week to help me quit smoking.Really didnt like tha way they made me feel so i stop taking them and just did tha old fashioned will power thing.Been 3 yrs since i smoked and glad i stopped. i smoked for 12 yrs btw.

I quit before I knew I was pregnant... body was warding off that toxin pretty quickly.

Sam was trying to quit last week and it didn't go well at all. He has a very adverse reaction to the lack of nicotine and it makes him either really nuts or really depressed. Needless to say, he's smoking again, and I'm okay with it for now!

One of my goals in life is to die from lung cancer. Quitting smoking would really fuck with that.

Sounds like they just don't actually want to quite to me. I'm mean sure, they might be concerned with the cost or the health related problems, but the benifits out weigh the cost. Its just not worth it to that person. Meanwhile, bitching is a good alternative to actually quiteing.

So, are you breathing in second hand smoke? Being pregnant, that's not good for you or the baby.

I enjoy smoking, but I have cut the amount of that which I smoke down by at 70% so I think that is a big step. Then again, ive only been smoking for 3 years.
