If you know enough about a persons personality, or have seen them react to "the truth" in the past, one can come with the conclusion that if they say what is real, they can pretty much be sure of the persons reaction.

When a person "cant handle it ", Im sure they are referring to the response the person is going to give them for example; yelling, screaming, denying, ignoring the truth, getting mad at the person. Maybe the person who apparently has the "truth to be told" might not want to risk harming the relationship that they have with the other person, therefore, they lie.
