non-profit = not making the profit.

if they pay their taxes as a nonprofit then all the money they make should got into programs, not lining someone's pocket... otherwise the irs will come to get them.

you're not understanding what I'm saying... perhaps it's my fault for being vague, but I'm not going to post more details about what i was bitching about.

it takes money to do things. a hotel isn't going to give a hall for free for no reason. a band isn't going to play for free. staging/lighting/speakers aren't free. ppl get marketing for sponsoring charities.

as said before, nothing is free.

i work for a charity... trust me, LOTS of stuff gets donated.
stuff that probably should be paid for cause its valuable.
& we do pay for some stuff, but not if we can help it.

& little bitty charities will just keep asking till they find someone who WILL give it up.
its socialism in a capitalist society.

my friends say i will go broke working for charities. but i work in the money making angles of it all & they will pay for that. well the big ones will pay for me. i just help the little ones i really like for free cause i know they broke.

if your service doesn't not directly generate income, you gonna have a hard time making the dollars. even marketing is usually donated.

they pay for legal, insurance, and fundraising. marketing is part of fundraising but not they check cashing part of it so it gets less flow.

i was just trying to help you undestand the way to get established is to either donate big or get other ppl donate big (not necessarily money either)

even time = $ to the irs. your volunteer hours even count

yeah, I'm pretty aware of how everything works. been doing stuff with/for charities for a few years now.

The dude just feels like he needs to manage all the time. Even at events he has nothing to do w/. He has some good input, but it's not like he's this all knowing master of gay raves.
