Having varying degrees of compassion does not make you a hypocrite Matty.

Everyone feels for people that die all over the world.

Most of us here are American. We will naturally have more compassion for American lives whether they be here or abroad. That doesnt mean we dont feel for humanity as a whole... but its a pretty easy concept to see that we would place our own at the top of the list, and the same would be said for any group from ethnicity to race to home country.

The collateral consequence of war is death. Its an acceptance that when you put yourself in harms way you risk your life.

Being killed by exceptional circumstance while being in the general comfort of your own home/state/business/etc is always going to illicit a greater outcry because of the extreme nature of the occurrence.

For someone to voice their feelings of the extreme nature of the Ft. Hood events but not note the daily role call of Iraq War deaths is completely natural. Its something closer to us if only in geographical means. That doesnt mean we are hypocrites. We still feel sadness for the lives of fallen soldiers all over the world... You just dont expect the danger to meet you face to face when not in the lineduty.

lol.... Just the way that media with sensational any news is what makes news so overwhelming.

Today alone I got nearly 10 BREAKING updates on the Ft. Hood shootings. 10. And none of them were very breaking about anything, all the info was basically the same. I did however watch C-Span last night to more info.

More than anything, when it comes to sensationalized new, the reaction of views is what makes me sadder than what has actually happened. Some ppl just don't fucking get it.

Anyone who would claim that they do not have varying degrees of compassion is either a fool or a liar... or perhaps worse.
