Activist Calendar on DDM?

Since there is already a large audience here, and we obviously have concerns beside just cutting loose over a beer ( Viva la Revolucion comes to mind), I just thought there must be an efficient way of going from all this talk on various issues in the Politics and Awareness forum to steering people's concerns toward taking action in grassroots fashion.

With VBulletin, I think you're allowed to create additional calendars in addition to one up for party events. I think a Take Action Calendar for organizing meetings, group lobbying events, political concerts and demonstrations is certainly worth the experiment, and there seems to be support for the idea among DDM members. I think it's an interesting idea and genuinely worth looking into. I'm busy at work today, so not real fruitful on the ideas, but is there an organized way of going about this via a thread stuck at the top of the forum? See how many hits that gets, how it increases attendacne at said events, etc, prior to creating a whole new calendar? Use the stuck thread as a sort of test to see if a calendar would really be warranted.

I think sticking the thread up in the forum would be a good idea, but the real test will come by trying it out for a period and see if anything comes of it.
