---Ok, I know we've discussed this previously. However, I wanted to make, yet, another request to allow animated avatars in our profiles. I realize they are shown in "user pics." Possibly, this option could be made available in forums?

---I'm hopeful though. I don't understand why avatars are allowed in "user pics" & not in the main forum. Maybe a problem with the site's capacity? If so, why not switch it so that avatars cannot be used in "user pics" profiles but are allowed in the forum profiles.

im not sure as to the reasoning on this site but the reason i did not allow avatars on my site for a time was the bandwidth issues it caused. Avatars in public profiles do not recieve as much traffic as having an avatar in the actual thread. The more pictures every single person veiws the more bandwidth it costs. On my site i currently allow avatars but we do not get near as much traffic as DDM.
This is just a theory as to why they are not allowed on here, dont hate me if im wrong.

Our stance on allowing animated avatars is still the same. The reasoning behind it is more that we don't want the site looking like an epileptic christmas tree of avatars. Bandwidth is also a consideration but it wasn't the primary reason we decided to not allow them.

I hope that explains it

I'd like to suggest you use a flashing pink background and imbed crappy midi files on every page.

well also for those users who have dial-up, it takes the page to load longer, and this is VERY frustrating I can say from personal experience since I used to have dial-up
