No, there will not ever be avatars in the forums themselves. Avatars only show up in PM's and User Profile.

No apology necessary at all We're more than happy to help. However, there's a most excellent search function on the forums for when you ran across a problem next time. Chances are there's a post in here somewhere when someone experienced a similar problem.

It would be nice if we had the ability to associate an avatar with our profile, like many other message boards. This adds some uniqueness to posts.

You can associate an avatar with your profile. Just go in to the user control panel by clicking User CP in the menu above. Then click Edit Options, scroll down to the bottom. You'll see a button that says Change Avatar. Click the button and you will be allowed to upload a picture that will be put in your profile. Now anytime someone views your profile or receives a personal message from you, they'll see your avatar.

Avatars will not show up in regular posts though. We decided from the start to disable that feature because it would impact the loading time for those on modems and increase our bandwidth requirements.
