Why we deleted the Useless Blabber and Personals forum

Hey guys,

I know some of you have been waiting for an official statement as to why we removed these forums. Our apologies for not making it sooner. As many of you know, taking Useless Blabber and Personals off is something that has come up before and many things led up to the final decision to remove them completely.

Just to recap a little bit for those that haven't been on the boards since the beginning; When we started the forums we didn't have either Useless Blabber or Personals. Personals came first, because we got requests from people that they wanted a place to post to possibly hook up with a girlfriend or boyfriend. Useless Blabber was started when the board started filling up with alot of well, Useless Blabber We never thought anything bad of this and alot of it was actually pretty damn funny. So as to not detract from the other forums discussions we decided to start a forum especially for this type of thing.

Useless Blabber really was great. It was crazy and hillarious and people had a good time. However, as time progressed we started seeing more and more posts and threads that turned into insults. At first it was all in good fun, then it turned serious. It really saddened us to see people hating on eachother so much. We never had anything against the funny, witty, stupid, retarded, wacky posts. But those posts were overshadowed by anger and hate. Perfectly innocent posts turned into pure negativity in a matter of minutes. The same thing went for personals. What was once a place to meet a new mate seemed to have turned into a place to drag out personal drama for the public to see.

I mentioned in a few other threads that we are simply following our original vision for the website but I'll bring it up again here. We always wanted the site to be a community site with up to date information on our local events and happenings. A place for people to meet and make new friends, hook up for a party, learn about other peoples taste in music etc. We both understand very well that people don't get along all of the time and that there will always be disagreements in a community. That's fine. But when people are using the forums and our community for threats of physical violence, hate and anger; it really just goes against what we intended.

Some of you have asked what we will accomplish by deleting the forums in question. We do realize that there might be a few more threads around the boards that would have fit in Useless Blabber now that the forum is gone. But like I mentioned earlier, we really don't mind these posts as much as we do the hating, insulting and threatening posts that slowly overtook Useless Blabber and Personals. We know those posts will never go away but by removing the forums we hope to minimize them.

I know the topic of Constitutional Rights and Freedom of Speech is a very important one for many of you, as well it should be. They are very dear to me as well. It was never our intention to violate anyones rights or to stifle freedom of speech. This is just a website run by two individuals with a passion for electronic music and the community that goes with it. Sometimes we have to make decisions that we feel are right for the website that we started. We also wanted to focus more of our attention on other areas of the site apart from the Useless Blabber and personals forum. Unfortunately, no matter how much we want to (and we really do want to), we can't make everyone happy. A number of people will always disagree no matter we decide. That's fine, we can agree to disagree.

I hope you all can find it in your hearts to respect and perhaps understand our decision even though you may disagree with it. In this particular decision we just didn't want our website to be the medium for such hatred that was displayed. Unfortunately this decision negatively detracts from the experience for some of you and for that we are truly sorry.

Matias, come on friend.... it's quite obvious that he was stating his opinon. Everyone is free to voice their opinion & it doesn't matter if they're a moderator or not. John isn't a mod nor are you so why dis on someone who has the same status as you?
