I only went to the high school I graduated from for 1/2 a semester. The only first & last name I remember is my ex-boyfriend.

I really have no interest in reunions sounds like something made up so the school can raise money. I'll sometimes bump into ppl I used to kick it with at clubs, bars, even at a nail salon, & we talk about what we're doing now. Yeah, I'm usually say something like, "Yeah, I work in downtown Dallas during the week & on the weekends I'll party so much that my work week is actually when I have time to recover. And yes my brothers are doing great."

I guess I was lucky enough to have good friends in high school, so I went to my 10 year reunion.

I suppose there were a few that were there to measure themselves, but for the most part it was just about hearing what everyone had been doing over the past 10 years...which is a long time, so there were some pretty interesting stories.

Also, I made some really great contacts. I met someone who finds venues for parties, someone who sells luxury cars for discounts, someone who gets free tickets to sporting events and concerts, someone who......you get the idea.

You don't HAVE to talk to everyone...you can just enjoy the company of a select few if you prefer. I would suggest going, it might be fun (and if it's not you can leave after getting shitty off the "free" booze).

when they did my 10th i was hosting a summer solstice event. i had picked my date on the calendar long before they did.

i've had 3 people seek me out from back then. which were mostly the people i wanted to see anyways (& they weren't in my grade) one went to a neighboring school, one a grade up & one a grade under.

i want to know what happened to our doogie howser that went to college at 14. one girl i ran into at one of the earth parties a decade ago & she later got committed. i saw another at the dentist with 5 children and she looked like she had eaten the hi school version of herself.

i would like to know if the girl i co-invented a code text with still remembers any of it. we passed notes in code algebra through calculus. that is 4 years of daily use. its pretty similar to that palm pc shorthand called grafitti or giraffe or something like that.

two years after i graduated the principal got arrested for soliciting an underage male police officer at the lido adult theatre. i always wondered why they called his son Lucky. interesting.

Eh... I don't think I have gotten an invitation to one. Well, maybe my 10 year? Can't recall.

I know I wouldn't go though. All my friends were 1-2 years ahead of my graduating class. I didn't like anyone in my graduating class.

The group that was arranging the high school reunion messed up on the original date and then rescheduled for a date that was impossible for me to make. I guess I'll do the 15 year one, but I have kept in touch with the 4 or 5 people that I gave a damn about from back then as it is.

the people in my grade wanted me to fit into ONE genre, 1 clique & i just didn't.
it irritated them because i hung out with the delinquents but i made good grades.

one of those hippos told her kids they can't play with mine at the park because she thinks i worship the devil. i'd have to believe in the devil first! i didn't even recognize her. i just took my kid to the park when we were in the neighborHOOD.

i ran into a guy a grade above me at the lollipop shoppe last month when they had the glam rock fashion show. it was really strange. he called me famous. i laughed cause that is ridiku coq u lous. they don't even have bottle service there, how can i be a celebrity unless they comping me $300 bottles of boozing. damn straight. lol

I'm calling BS on this. You may not go just to see how much better you are than other people, but it's human nature to be competitive.

Anyone who says they don't benchmark where they are against other people is lying to themselves and everyone else. You know why? Because no one would get anywhere in life if they let everyone else get ahead of them.
And it doesn't have to be financially driven, it can be mentally driven too. You could see a person who's making twice what your making, but when you talk to them you realize their life sucks. You may not do it consciously, but in your head you're thinking, "I'm doin better than that guy." It's your minds way of saying "Hey, I'm doin' the right thing, life is good."

Honestly I say I'd laugh at those people for getting fat, having kids and living in the same crappy town. But hey, if that's what gets their juices flowin', more power to them. I just know that to me, I'm better than that. I got my stoner ass off the couch, got out of a dead-end town, and havin a great time doing what I'm doing. I probably wouldn't laugh, but I'd just think how shitty it would be to be in their shoes, because that life isn't for me.

Ok, didn't mean to go on a rant there, but I guess I did. Life's a big pissing contest whether you like it or not. Nothin' personal Mike, and maybe I am just a shallow mofo in this area, but at least I'm honest about it.
