![]() | I think it's great that you're getting it done if that's what you wanna do. In my opinion stress is the number one killer and cause of body deterioration. If you're happier about the way you look and have more self confidence then that's a whole hell of a lot less stress! I think guys need to go through the criticism and judgment that women go through everyday. Maybe they would see things differently.

I learned of the Botox treatment from Dr. Oliver Sach's new book (the neurologist that the movie "Awakenings" was about, and a HUGE proponent of music therapy) The book is called Musicophilia, and there's a whole chapter on musician's dystonia. Specifically on botox, it says: Introduced in the late 80s, one form of botulinum toxin, which in large doses causes paralysis, had been used in tiny doses to control various conditions in which muscles are so tense, or in such spasm, that they can hardly be moved. Mark Hallett and his group were pioneers in the experimental use of Botox to treat musician's dystonia, and they found that small, carefully placed injections might allow a level of muscular relaxation. Such injections have enabled some musicians to resume playing their instruments. Botox does not remove the underlying neural and perhaps genetic disposition to dystonia, and it maybe unwise or provocative to attempt a return to performance. A few years ago, musicians might go for years without a proper diagnosis or treatment, but thanks to a group formed in 2000 called Musicians with Dystonia, the situation has been transformed. Neurologists are much more aware of musician's dystonia, as are musicians themselves. Later it speaks of a particular pianist who tried Botox treatments. He apparently had one hand so clenched that he could not open it and his arm was rock solid with constantly constricted muscles. Botox apparently wasn't enough for him by itself, so he combined it with Rolfing, which has worked on the long term for him. He returned to professional performance in 96, and had a solo recital at Carnegie Hall in 2003. Finally, it said Botox treatments do not always work; the dose must be minutely calibrated or it will weaken the muscles too much, and it must be repeated every few months.

A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near death experience. Seeing God, she asked," Is my time up?" God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live. "Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, brow lift, lip enhancement, boob job, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was hit and killed by a car. Arriving in front of God, She demanded, "I thought you said I had another 40 years? Why didn't you pull me out of The path of the car?" God replied, "Giiirrrlllllll, I didn't even recognize you." -- that was a sad story to hear about yr friend Roos. Good ending now that he is playing again. |

As for me, if I had the money... I would get botox shots for my forehead and in between my eyes. I have a very expressive face which has lead to lots of wrinkles on my forehead. I aslo have this horrible wrinkle between my eyes due to pulling those muscles together. I got botox once... it was expensive... but damn that wrinkle between my eyes looked much better. I think a little bit of work to reduce wrinkles... here and there isn't bad. But when people go over the top, yes... that's bad.
