It's really an honor when someone asks you to be a part of what they feel is the biggest day of their life. I hope you don't grumble about being in the wedding in front of the bride. Someday you will understand when you get married.

I only think its bad when they pick out dresses for you to wear that do not work for your body.

Strapless dresses are really hard on me. It makes the entire day/night uncomfortable, I am constantly pulling that shit up, worrying about my tits popping out. It's not fun.

I think brides need to realize not everyone's body is the same, just because you really want strapless dresses doesn't mean you shouldn't keep your maids in mind. They are buying the dress, after all.

I told my maid of honor to wear a black dress, whatever black dress was good on her and would work for her in Mexico. It made things much easier on her and she looked awesome.

That would be me! My hair is short - but I think I'm going to touch it up with some makeup and not worry about it. I keep forgetting this is Sara Kates day...and I've known her since I was 5 so therefore I'm going to suck it up. At least the wedding pictures are of me facing forward and I don't have to worry about the Lek Brothers coming up from behind! LOL

Maybe you could pick up a good wig to wear that would cover up the scars? (assuming they are placed somewhere where hair would cover them up)

If you do makeup, be sure to get one that matches your back specifically. The skin on your face is NOT the same color as the skin on the rest of your body. I made the mistake when I got married and my mother INSISTED that I cover the tattoo on the back of my neck. I had a huge, discolored blob on my neck. FORTUNATELY, my veil covered it up.




And as far as bridesmaid's dresses go.
The one and only time I was a bridesmaid, I was tasked to dress in one of those Chinese Mandarin dresses of my own color choice. (I got a hot pink one.. God bless my friend for choosing a dress that I've actually worn many times since)

I found myself shopping the asian wedding shops in Arlington, Richardson, and Garland in search of one, and while there discovered great deals on all sorts of other bridesmaid dresses.

Damn I didn't even think about the make-up matching - as stupid as that sounds. Where would I find this make-up at??? OR should I just go and get regular cover-up....good thing for me I'm WHITE WHITE WHITE!

but yes, i was flattered that she asked (demanded). however, i don't really see it as an honor: "I bestow upon you the honor of purchasing a dress for which you will never have another occasion to wear it, along with the honor of possibly embarrassing yourself in front of a ton of people you don't know."

when i get married, its just gonna be me and my husband up there with the preacher. everyone else can just sit the fuck down and watch the magic happen.

you sound like the bridesmaid i fired for my wedding. her lack of interest in helping me with my wedding was so hurtful that i just told her to forget it. she didn't want to do it from the beginning but instead of tellnig me about her issues with being a bridesmaid, she piitched a fit about EVERYTHING and made it really difficult for me. she made me feel like I had to accomodate HER. when it should have been the other way around.

so one day i said screw it - you're fired.

needless to say - we aren't friends at all anymore.
