![]() | Jason Kidd Trade to Dallas Final http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...de.34b3c4.html Jason Kidd trade to Dallas Mavericks now official 12:26 PM CST on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 By EDDIE SEFKO / The Dallas Morning News esefko@dallasnews.com NEW ORLEANS – It's official. Jason Kidd is a Dallas Maverick again. Owner Mark Cuban and an NBA spokesman said this morning the deal is completed and has been reviewed and made official by the league. Kidd is expected to arrive in Dallas in plenty of time for today's 3 p.m. practice at American Airlines Center. Devin Harris, the primary piece going from the Mavericks to New Jersey, is already with the Nets. Mavericks and Nets officials had a conference call with league attorneys, who ruled that all components of the trade are valid. In addition to Harris, DeSagana Diop, Trenton Hassell, Moe Ager and the newly re-signed Keith Van Horn go to the Nets, along with first-round draft picks this summer and in 2010, $3 million in cash and a $1.6-million trade exception. Along with Kidd, an eight-time All-Star point guard, the Mavericks get forward Malik Allen and swingman Antoine Wright. The Mavericks' first game after the All-Star break is Wednesday night at New Orleans, and if all players have reported to their new teams and passed physicals, Kidd could make his Mavericks' debut against the Hornets at New Orleans Arena. Kidd originally was drafted by the Mavericks in 1994 with the second overall pick and played two years before getting traded to Phoenix. The Mavericks are expected to introduce their new players this afternoon, either before or after practice. The Mavericks started the process of announcing the trade by waiving rookie forward Nick Fazekas. Fazekas was selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2007 draft. He saw action in four games with the Mavericks this season averaging 1.0 point in 2.3 minutes. He spent 28 games (24 starts) with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA D-League and averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 30.5 minutes per game. He was selected as a D-League All-Star but did not play in the game. That move allows the Mavericks to sign Van Horn to a contract worth more than $4 million. He will join the Nets and fulfill whatever obligations are set forth by the league to satisfy the trade requirements. Van Horn retired after the 2005-06 season, but never filed papers with the league, giving him the option of resuming his career. He has been living in Evergreen, Colo., for the last couple years, developing business interests and spending time with his family. After Van Horn is signed, the trade likely will be released as official. But that is a formality as the league's OK was all that matters. |

Van Horn brought back to get traded and you sign away rights for awesome rookie picks for two years? You had best believe that the deep end of the bench is about to get a workout. JJ Barea, your time is come, bud. You just don't know it yet. Jason Kidd: You better do it now or never, dawg. Blow your opponents out the water and don't be the monster you were in New Jersey. Set up your teammates and build a relationship with them as fast as you can. If you don't, BELIEVE that you will be the scapegoat for another Dallas loss just like over ten years ago when you, Mashburn, and homie number 3 were arguing about who was stabbing Halle's guts. Dirk: This is your last hurrah, homeboy. X amount of time left with a contract, but don't think that Cuban isn't willing to drop you in a heartbeat if he can find a replacement. If this trade proved anything, YOUR PLACE IS ALWAYS UP FOR NEGOTIATION. ALWAYS.

I'm being nice today, so I won't laugh with Eric. Since you are the Suns "expert" here (keke), how is Nash dealing with Shaq holding down the backcourt? Oh wait.

Lost to GS, only by 2 points. If pinche Amare would of made both those baskets it would of went into overtime. Suns are a better team.

(gets ready to dodge internet fist of Jonny) How is Kevin Durant holding up (even as a number 2 pick)? ![]() Yeah, yeah, when I want to be mean I can be. Better luck to him next year. There was a lot of promise and still may be. All in time.
