Old men talking about Burning Man...

Today my co-worker and I were sitting outside for lunch...we have a meeting going on in the hotel...so some of the guys were outside smoking. This old fucker - 50 maybe 60 was talking to his friend about Burning Man. I don't think I would want my company knowing I go there! HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

I just started laughing and I walked inside.

Yeah, one of my co-workers told me that she recently had a coversation with her parents' friend who is his 50s & he goes to Burning Man every year. Well she was explaining it to ME & I'm just nodding, saying, "Whoa, really, sounds like a rave!" And she was like, "What's that?"

And I said, "Oh, I dono, I saw one on tee vee."

then she says, "well burning man sounds crazy & you should go, since I know that you've gone camping like once a month since you've started working here & it's crazy & your crazy."

Oh okay, thanks.

the fact that she thinks camping is all that is needed before the leap to burning man LMAO

i have never been. its too expensive. i would rather go to wmc or nyc or something.

i thinking of going once before it gets corporate sponsors or something. i love the performance aspect ... very fluxus.

but i have met a lot of creepy oldies that are burners & i'm not too excited about some of their motives for hanging around the young ladies.

its like jerry is dead & its the new tour or sumptin.

Definately more down for WMC than BM just b/c BM is not focused on music AND there is no WATER! Hello, you have to bring EVERYTHING to last in a DESERT. But I still want to go one day.

i want to go camping in the desert. i guess technically i did at marfa last year but it was at the chinati hot springs which is green & lush and has a communal kitchen & 4 pools. but i am thinking the kiddo has camped enuf now to handle big bend.

that is the for real camping thur. (but i still gonna go to a hot springs there...yea magic mineral water)

The age range of people in the burning community is teens (with supervision) to canes. Don't be surprised by people talking about it in the open, either, it's not just about drugs. Not like at Raves where there was the "it's about the music, not the drugs" phenomenon, in this case there really is a large portion of contributors to BM who are artists that are trying to convey a message or get their name out there. BM also has the luxury of being so widely attended, by squares and families even, to cover it's seedy underbelly of liberalism and psychadelia.

The Chinati hot springs are amazing. Is the old bartender from Club DaDa still the caretaker there?
