My buddy sent this to me today. Pretty crazy story. Its a long read but has a happy ending. Seems there are a lot of haters, but overall, he seems like a nice guy. I'm gonna check him out tomorrow night @ Ghostbar. Curious to see if he plays the same stuff he would in LA.

PART 1 : THE STORY

GOOD DUDE IS SORRY

I just got back from Victoria, Canada with the clothes on my back, my new REVOLVER tee that i got from homie Kiri in Tokyo, and my book. No backpack, no computer, no money nothing else... because i got robbed.

The show in VIctoria was insane. THe kids were hyped and i felt good so we invited some friends up to my hotel room. Kept the crew of people small and i literally sat on my bed and played the dj again for everyone in the room. It got a little crowded so i pushed the party to another party down the street.

THere was this one kid that walked in and i remember him well cuz he kept asking to come to the "afterparty". Somehow he figured out my hotel room. And the hotel is connected to the club so it made it easy.

A few other stragglers wandered in but it was under control and i wasn't fucked. i was getting there but i definitely wasnt fucked. when i mean by fucked i mean drunk. so here comes that kid and he looks twisted, drunk, not sure what he was on but i just stayed sitting on my bed greeting people playing new Bloody Beetroots tracks. Eventually we all left my hotel... at least i thought we all did. I check out this other party and an hour and so goes by and i have to get back to the hotel cuz my flight to Las Vegas is at 7am. it's about 4 40 am now and the promoter picks me up takes me back to the hotel to grab my things. I walk up to my room 116 in the STrathcona and the door is propped open. My stomach didn't drop yet but i was fucking failsafe sure i closed this door. I walk in and some shit was strewn out from my backpack - my revolver tee was on the bed, my book was on the couch, serato record sleeve thrown somewhere else and my nintendo ds charger was on the floor. i peeped back behind the sofa where i put my backpack and it was gone. my fucking computer and shit was fucking gone. all i could think about was how much money was in there and my fucking computer, my fucking computer gone.... like that... what the fuck. by the way im never carrying money with me anymore. except for a few dollars. eventually i went to the airport going over in my head a million times how this could have happened. there is just no fucking way i left this door open. just no fucking way. how did someone get back in to this room... unless they hid in the bathroom??? really?? nooooo... that's just tooo stalker weird. but it had to be. it had to be the case. i was also worried about my next two gigs in the next 24 hours. i had a 12 -5pm gig for Volkswagen in Las Vegas and a 12-2am gig in San Diego all in the same day. How am i gonna dj? i have a few friends in Vegas. one of which is Tina T. She told me she's never let anyone dj from her computer about sixteen times so i owe her big otherwise i would have had to jump in a clown suit and do some sort of dance for these people coming to buy cars or something. by the way i would never do that. and jesse from mstrkrft spent the whole day with Jacob my assistant sending over tracks so i had something to play for san diego. it all kinda worked out in the end. then later that day while im sulking about my loss i get an email in my blackberry saying they FOUND MY BACKPACK with my computer in it and a note. THE DUDE LEFT A NOTE!!!

"Dear Steve Aoki,

I am a huge fan of yours, I love what your crew does. Last night, (March '07) at Element, there were some people who came to join with you after your show. I snuck in and hid behind the shower curtain. I was highly intoxicated, which when everyone had left, led me to come out into your room and take your napsack > lapttop inside. I have never stole before and never plan to again. Here is your stuff. I saw your money and ggot freaked. I truly amd sory and feel horrible for taking advantage of a great person/DJ. Email is gooddudeissorry@gmail.com. I hope you can move on from my stupidity and have a great rest of your tour. If you eever need anything in any city in Canada, I can hook you up. Again I am just 19 years old, young and innocent, love your music and love what you are about (aboot!).

I still can't believe he hid in my bathroom behind the shower curtain. and i couldn't believe i was getting my computer, dough, and shit back to me. i still can not fucking believe what just happened. i still haven't slept either. so now im trying to figure out how im going to get my computer back to me before my sunday gig in vegas monday gig in la and tuesday gig in dallas. and then i get another email from the promoters.... they found SURIVEILLANCE PHOTOS of the dude walking out with my backpack. this is how i knew it was the same guy i was talking about. here are the photos.
look at the time... 3:28am. this was minutes after we left my room to this party.

4 minutes later he's strolling out with my shit.

somehow the clock went backwards but hes taking a look around probably with relief that he got away

now he's running cuz he can't believe he made it this far. hahhahaa wowwww.

the promoters in victoria was amazing and really went out of their way to help me out. shane and danny. good fucking dudes. they went all over town to find a shipper to send back my stuff by sunday but nothing can happen. then my good homie at Crispen for Volkswagen came through and made sure i got my stuff back to me by Sunday. Every single time we work with them good shit happens. Anyways, now im sitting at my computer looking at my backpack and seeing almost everything that was in it still in it. and honestly i am not mad at the dude because he had the bigger balls to return everything, almost everything. im missing a charger. like "gooddudeissorry" said "believe in love and karma" ... and always check behind the shower curtains before you leave your hotel after having a party.

Someone stole a crate of mine and NVS' records once and I sad like someone cut my mom's leg off. But a day later we found out that the cops caught the people who broke into his car. A week later we got em back.
