those fluxus ppl make some icky stuff. there was one shown in either london or chicago where this chick saved up all her used maxipads & did this whole domino effect looking installation with them all over the floor. another smelly piece i conveniently didn't see. do not like the stinky.

this thread makes me think of the movie bucket of blood from the 50's. this dorky waiter wants to hang out with the artsy beatniks, who blow him off. he accidentally kills a cat and covers it in clay and when he shows it at the coffee shop they are all impressed and he makes money & get a gallery gig... which he has to make more art for [insert evil laugh here] (i should mention its an old roger corman movie)

See, this is what happens when a couple fucking retards do some distasteful, nasty offensive shit and call it art - the art scene, as a whole, gets a bad rap. What a shame.

there's a tv show (not Twilight Zone but of that ilk) where a guy is using blood to make paintings.... his wife gets ill.... he needs lots of cash to hire a specialist. His buyer is willing to poney up the cash for one more masterpiece in blood. The guy kills this man in a parkinglot to get the blood... he gets the money... then finds out he killed the surgeon his wife needed

no wonder both sides of the abortion argument are shocked. most pro-choice believers advocate a woman's choice if she ever finds herself in a situation that is unplanned. not a woman purposely getting pregnant over and over with the full intention of aborting each pregnancy. we all know what the pro-life stance would be on this. i personally could not stomach going to or supporting an exhibit where you watch videos of forced miscarriages displayed on the blood that came from them. |

She is a poster child for the nightmares of the pro-life camp. She's a poster child for their cause. She's a real life nightmare for for pro-choice advocates because, as you said, she got pregnant so that she could kill her babies. That's not at all the reason pro-choice advocates defend the legality of abortion. It is horrific. Half hoping this was reprinted without attribution from the Onion.

Questionable, even to me, but beautifully innovative nonetheless, at least in concept; actually, I think reading a fictional piece about such an artist would've better sufficed than actually executing the idea, but I say that only because there's little to no way at all that this installation could ever invoke the reaction she's anticipated. The causality is more predictable than Serrano's "Piss Christ" was--and "Piss Christ" was far more beautiful in both design and execution and even had an effective political role to consequently play once it met the public. Still doesn't sway me from my stance that an artist should leave her morals at the door when engaging in a project.

There's little beautiful about aborted babies squished between pieces of plastic nor of a crucifix dunked in a jar of piss... it is intended to insult. Some consider it art. I consider it insulting stupidity.

![]() | That's absurdly arbitrary, Xian. There's no possible polemical defense for this? Because you deem it immoral?
