Oil nears $120 a barrel. It seems like it was such a big deal (not that long ago) when it pierced the $100 mark.

Crude sets new record high amid global supply concerns. Gas prices, also in record territory, reach $3.51 a gallon.

I find myself not caring about gas prices anymore. I used to shop around for the cheapest, but it doesn't matter now. If 3.40/gal is closer than the 3.50/gal, i'll take the 3.40. When you're paying that much, what's the point of shopping around right?

Yeah, people, or at least more people than usual, are starving in third world countries like Haiti now because the cost of fuel is too high for them to get any food to their ports.

i remember when my daughter was about 1 or 2yrs old(1998) I could get a gallon of gas on MacArthur in Irving for .79 cents a gallon. Is 450% inflation normal in 10 years?

When I first started driving it was only .99 a gallon, that was 8 years ago.

Supply and demand Ash. Obviously the world has quadrupled in population since then, and these poor little oil companies just can't keep up with producing for that many people.

When I left for California in 1999 it was less than $1. When I left a years later it was well over $2.00. California stopped collecting state fuel taxes because they'd filled their tax revenue quotas so fast.

Anyway, clearly the problem is George Bush and the neo-cons.

no, but the number of drivers in China and India exploded in the past 10 years

when production cannot keep pace with increased demand the price goes up...

Just wait until a Democrat gets into office. Im gonna buy a Hummer. My higher income tax might allow me to join the bankruptcy club but at least it will be affordable to drive to work.
