Yeah, I assumed they are both the Kia's of the bike world.

I've been itching to get a bike, but wanna start w/ something cheap.
Seeing those new at the same price of a 10yo honda looks really suspicious.

I know nothing about bikes, though.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R has been redesigned for this year to mimick the agressive look of the bigger bikes, is phenomenal on gas, a great first bike that is super easy to learn on, and can be had new for 3500 bucks. A very solid first bike if you're not a huge dude.

Their website appears to be having issues at the moment.

Another good first bike in that same vein for around the same price is the Hyosung GT250R.

Haha yeah I posted that as you posted your response. All of the major manufacturers have small, beginner friendly bikes for around 3500 in the sport or cruiser styles. Go ride some and see which ones you like.

yeah, that's what I need to do. I've started looking at classes. They run about $200 and go for one weekend. I've driven dirt bikes a while ago, but I know that's gonna be way different than a street bike.
