I can't even think about getting one until my current car is paid off... and I really want to test drive one before buying... but dang I want a car that doesn't run on gas.

But yea, the Triac is $20,000 and the Buckshot is around $18,000.

Now I'll keep my runs-on-gas car for road trips and when I need to haul something around.

Otherwise, an electric car would be what I would use for daily commutes.

Here's an email I got when I inquired about buying one in Texas:

Hi Karen.

The first Triacs and Buckshots for sale will be at our San Jose, CA headquarters in the middle to end of July. These will be available for test driving and inspection for potential buyers, but this first production line will only be sold to new dealerships due to a limited supply.

We have had a tremendous amount of interest in both vehicles and dealerships, and are currently evaluating distributor applications carefully to ensure high quality locations. Dallas is very likely to have a GV retail outlet in the near future, as we are currently talking with interested parties there. That said, if you choose, you can also pre-register (form attached) with a 10% fully refundable fee, so that your name will be entered into the waiting list to receive a vehicle on a first-come-first-served basis. For the short term, Green Vehicles will sell a vehicle directly to you until there is a dealership in your area.
Delivery can be arranged.

In the coming weeks please continue to check the website for updates. By the end of the week you should see two new forms: 1) A pre-registration form. 2) A dealership application. Soon thereafter we will post a schedule that will keep you up to date with vehicle arrival times and the like; and, of course, several new dealership locations will be posted as we qualify applicants.

Electric cars will be pretty sweet once they get the battery technology updated. In the interim I would only consider an electric car if it had a small back up gas engine that would kick in if the battery was depleted.

Aside from the legal restrictions of driving on roads that are 35 MPH or lower, I really like the Moose. $13,000 too. Pretty cool.

Well, that is for the cheap one. If you look at the Triac, it's not the same. Obviously though, their website is confusing and needs more detail.

I like the $13,000 one as well, but as you can see they don't mention it in their email.

But the Triac has a top speed of 80 mph. So I can't see why that one has to be on roads with speed limits 35 mph and under.

Yes, it only goes 100 miles on a charge, so not good for road trips, but for daily commute to a job 40 miles round trip, perfectly doable. And it only takes 6 hours to charge.

I would buy a Honda... *GASP*... if they offered a car that was 100% electric. Well, I would consider it. And then I'd make sure to take it to a dealership when that fucker broke down.

Man. I think you must have just had a bad one. I LOVE my Honda. I have never had a car that has lasted so good with the amount of beatings it's taken. I just flipped 179,000 miles on it this weekend. Aside from standard maintenance and normal problems, it still runs like a new baby.

Well I got one with a crappy set of brakes and Honda wouldn't stand behind it because I took it into a shop to get them fixed. I know, I was stupid, but it was a Friday night and they were making this un-Godly noise. I saw a shop and pulled in. Got a diagnosis... and went to a shop 500 yards up the road... didn't tell them what shop 1 said... got the exact same story.

Anyways, my brake pads were completely gone at like 25,000 miles because the calipers were not releasing all the way.

Most brake pads will last a good 40,000 miles.

read the article I put with it amiga .. I believe it will only be leased in cali for the first year and will be rolled out elsewhere from then on

At least there is hope on the horizon that we will be able to produce cars that do not need gas.
