It is really interesting. There is a really nice birthing center down the street from Baylor.

There have been a few articles about the hospitals in North Dallas performing mor C-sections/inducements because their docs don't want to work nights or weekends. :/

when i finished the movie, i googled midwife dallas, tx bc i was curious to know if there were any birthing centers around here. theres that one and one in garland, and then a directory of midwives. i didn't think there would be any in dallas really, but its nice to know the option is there.

and yeah, when they were talking about how the peaks in c-sections are around 4pm and 10pm i was literally sitting there like

It's nice to have hospitals as a back up resource, but they usually aren't necessary. Europe has been doing many research studies on centers vs. hospitals and the numbers are good for centers. The most important part of the process is the screening.

yeah i'm really interested to know how they determine if a woman will be a good candidate for a midwife assisted birth. like what are some things that are an automatic deal-breaker (so to speak)?

I kinda want to see this but dont know if thats the best idea with a preggo wife at home. Stacy has some heart issues that combined with her size means that the midwife/birthing centers are not an option. She needs to have the baby at a hospital so this movie might just freak her out more than she already is.

you might want to watch it kev, just to be informed, but i wouldn't let stacy see it until later. they mention in there that the US has the second highest newborn mortality rate in the world.

Medical history plays a large part of it, plus any current illness (ie diabetes). Plus any genetic type disorders that may be in family medical history (ie sickle cell anemia). Obesity is another rule out, usually.
