Yeah this sounds like a dumb secret of dog fighting. Why the hell would you train up a dog, for God knows how many months, to be a lean, mean, dog-fighting machine, only to lock it in a trunk with another dog? That just sounds stupid. I understand the driving force behind these things is betting money, but there's no way I'd train a dog to NOT watch him fight the other dog.

I think your much more likely to pop a trunk and see a methamphetamine chemical reaction or a dead body than a dog fight. I could see cock fights going down like this, but fighting dogs in that manner seems a little too resource intensive for what you get.

I remember in HS the local news did a story on kids snorting Ritilin to get a cocaine like high. The next day at lunch at least 10-15 kids were crushing up the pills and trying it. If the idea would have never been planted in the first place they never would have tried it.
