Leave it up to Hollywood to (yet again) take something complex and beautiful and completely fuck it up by dumbing it down for an American audience. When I first found out they were doing a remake of A Tale of Two Sisters, my favorite Korean film of all time, at first I was excited. Then I was hesitant. I mean, Hollywood hasn't done a good remake of an Asian horror since Dark Water. Well, today I saw the trailer for the remake, which they've retitled The Uninvited and my fears were confirmed. It's not going to be anything like the original. If you're thinking about seeing this film, I highly highly highly recommend seeing the original first.  And speaking of unoriginal... How many films do we need called The Uninvited? Wasn't the first film from 1944 to bear that name a classic enough in it's own right? I mean, it was the first ghost story movie in history!  Not to mention there is another Korean film acutally called The Uninvited.  And a whole slew of other American tragedies by that same name..... Grrrrrrr.

maybe so. i watched the trailer for uninvited there. that girl played violet baudelaire. i think she can pull creepy disturbing off really well. but again, american remakes can be so disappointing.
