I was able to find a way to block the ads a minute after i actually posted this though. I used to use adblock for firefox but since I started using chrome i hadnt been able to find anything that worked like it. I found that if you download privoxy and then tell chrome to use it it will block pretty well.

It does have one bad thing about it (that doesnt affect me) but it would seem that you cant use hotmail with it. I know a fix is coming out soon. It worked when it first came out but MS made an update to hotmail that broke it. I did a test and loaded www.microsoft.com on IE, FF and Chrome all at the same time (well as fast i could, it clicked go in order from IE, FF, Chrome) and Chrome loaded noticibly faster than any other browser even though it was the last thing clicked. Obviously not a definitive test but just a little food for thought. I have to use IE to work with one of my work web apps as its not chrome compliant and since I started using chrome I cant stand having to go into it. and "porn mode" is fucking awesome. ctrl + shift + n opens a new "incognito" window which doesnt hold on to any private data while you are in that window.
