twitter has actually increased my productivity (i follow leaders in my industries) and has kept me from wasting my days posting on this mind numbing forum.

i use tweetdeck to separate them into groups so i can go straight to the info i want... and can receive private text messages from those in other countries at no extra cost.

twitter only serves to highlight the rampant narcissism and self-centeredness that plagues our generation. it much like reality television, myspace, and other such abominations of our technological age acts as a prop to uphold the illusory values and rampant materialisms that our society has come to prize. attention is grasped at desperately like some rare gem, as if it were the sole faculty by which one's worth as a person is determined. this mentality seems to suggest we dont even fucking exist unless we have someone regonize us or read our updates every day. such behaviors indicate a serious lack of identity; the person instead of striving to find themselves rather aimlessly scrambles to create some kind of self image through creating blogs, pages, with my music, my brands, my life, my pictures. a feeble attempt to preserve a fragile ego under the crushing weight of the truth that people are afraid to face :

Let me guess, you don't even have a twitter account right? Cause if you did, you'd see that you're more anonymous on there than facebook or here any day of the week. You don't 'post your pic' for all the internet to admire on there. I keep the facebook/ddm/look-at-me world away from twitter altogether so um, you're little monologue is wasted text, kid.

i don't have twitter. and i dont see how it being any more or less anonymous than facebook makes it a non-indicator of the serious narcissism + lack of culture and identity amongst this generation. just because your pic isn't on there doesn't mean its not a chance to get attention or some kind of scrap of self validation. why the fuck else would people post the random and inane shit they do on there? because it's productive and anonymous? right.

i was discussing an issue that is a bit broader than just twitter. twitter is merely a small component of my complaint.

i'll admit i have facebook but rarely do i update/check it. so rare to the point people get pissed off for me not responding to their last messages or whatever.

and not all this social networking stuff is bad, its just the level that some folks take it to and the underlying issues that spurn such excesses.
