Mac halp please
i was updating my macbook pro 17inch and after update, i tried to restart and Power is on but my screen all dark. I dont know much about mac, i am a pc guy.Can any of u mac user help me out?

hit f1 or f2 to adjust brightness?

the brightness keys might be different on ur keyboard than mine, my macbook they are f1 and f2, my imac, they are f14/f15.

Apple has confirmed that the NVIDIA graphics card has died, that they would be replacing the entire logic board, is it true?

how much they charge for diagnostics in apple store?

your right about it being an issue with the grfx card.

My brother emailed Steve Jobs about it, got his right hand mans phone number and they sent him a new laptop. This won't happen for you. Sorry it happened though.

i think the diagnostics at the store are 100.00 if you are out of warranty


if you arent out of warranty then all this should be covered for free anyway

If its a known flaw from the maker of the video card they will replace it for free. The 3rd party pays for the repair warranty or not. I had that happen to my macbook and got it replaced without applecare. So set up an appointment online at your closest apple store and get it fixed. The repair center will either be Austin or Houston so the turn around is pretty quick.

My logic board was out and they estimated $300 for the repair at the Apple store. Sent it to Austin, three days later I get a call that it will be $1200 because other things needed to be fixed in the laptop (out of warranty, out of apple care) - I declined and just bought a new one. Hopefully this doesn't happen to you.
