I once knew of a fog machine that stole itself from my posession and blamed it on the lighting crew from a small party I threw once...

apparently a $30 fog machine is powerful enough to set off alarms beginning in a 2000sqft room, lock the entire 18story building down and the swat team would have to storm the place to destroy the fog machine before we would be able to escape our foggy deaths. either that or it could create so much condensation on the group that the floor would become slick and ppl would start slipping and falling to their deaths. and this was AFTER I had already unplugged it. who knows what could have happened if I would have left it in as was requested!

you should see the fog machines they have in NY. different colored fog... I saw one putting out rainbow colored fog in a gay club called Driving Dicks down in the meatpacking district.

It adds particles to the air to allow the lights to look different. It also allows you to see the beam of the lasers. Hazers do it better by not causing a thick cloud of smoke to take up the room. Hazer slowly particulate the air. You can also use flash powder, it kind of does the same thing, but it is used more in theatre and you can't keep going around and lighting it while the club is open. I had a smoke machine get stuck in the on position over at Buddha9 last year and it set off the fire alarm, causing the police to show up as well and almost started a riot inside because no-one could see inside due to the thick cloud.
