Donut pr0n (for the honorable Homer J. & mistah Gaylord Focker)

Shiny glazed filled donut
Cream filling winks out of the opening
Tempting me as the flavor for the day
Glaze glistens over the round form
Crunchy sugar settled at its bottom
I bite the opening first.
Much of the filling retreats but only to be absorbed by the dough
The next bite captures a little cream
Wedged between tender flakes of pastry delightfulness
With just a little crystalline crunch of the solidified sugar glaze

Sips the coffee
The sweetness subsides

And I take a corner nibble
No cream all dough & crunchy sugar
Donut melts back to its primal state in my mouth
Sugar, shortening, fryer oil, glaze
Empty sweetness amuses the taste buds
No protein or vegetable nutrients to get in the way of decadent devilish sin
Taunting my tongue
Drawing me back
For another bite & another

There are only two bites left
There is no more delicacy left in me
It will be sticky & messy
I am armed with a pink napkin that I won’t end up using
Since I will kiss my fingertips & lick away the last crumbling bits of sticky sugar
Second to the last bite
Flicked tongue laps a dollop as the teeth half what is left

Sips the coffee
Relishing the last notes of sweetness

Sighing at that last bite
Letting it all fall into my mouth
Cool cream & warm dough competing for dominance
& in the end only the sweetness remains

When i was in H.S. we used to stop once a week and The Donut Palace on our way to school.
Since we always got kolaches. Our greeting was always, "Good Morneee, You want piggy?" A great start to any day. LOL
