-Walking/driving in the country to see the sky open up and reveal the single eye/arm of a cosmic monstrosity.

-The dark terror of being surrounded by a mob of zombies. It isn't the single shamblers that inspire fear. It is the massive throng that renders us inept.

-Being overwhelmed by the turbulent waves of the ocean and taking that last gasp.

-Not being able to see lake/river/ocean bottom and knowing that each crest could be covering the dormant dreaming of a leviathan of Biblical proportion.

OH one that I have had about four times in some way or another is looking out to the horizon or up into the sky in general and seeing what must be a nuclear bomb going off or a huge meteorite crashed

the water is a sludge more than anything. black, muddy and moldy green. the birds are vulchers, crows, and red birds.
